Product Description
The advanced design SuperAxe™ semi-floating rear rotors offer substantially improved performance in terms of both modulation at the lever and overall braking power. The patented advanced floating system of the SuperAxe™ series semi-floaters is many times stronger than conventional semi-floating brake rotors. The heart of this patented design has the floater buttons controlling radial and axial float only, they are non-load bearing. All of the considerable braking forces are channeled through the trademarked Direct-Link™ architecture comprising over an 800% increase in surface area load transfer as compared to conventional floating brake rotors…simply a far superior design!
Plus, we are the first major brake rotor manufacturer to include hi-tech Cryogenic processing on the entire line of performance rotors as a standard operational component of manufacture. The inclusion of this advanced technologically employing computer controlled, 40 hour deep freezing treatment provides greater thermal stability along with improved wear resistance.
Fitment
- 2008-Up Harley models that use 300mm (11.8"), right-hand hub-mount OE rotors.
- For the Cobra SS rear floater (semi floater), BrakeTech very specifically recommends this rotor, as well as, any floating rears for those who are light to moderate rear brake users ONLY. This is exclusively due to the specific dynamics at play:
- Aluminum does not have the tensile strength of steel. And particularly, when set in a two piece floating environment where the outer friction ring transfers the high dynamic loads of heavy braking to the softer aluminum carrier, deformation can occur at an accelerated rate increasing those critical (floating) clearances and causing premature wear and ultimately early retirement.
- To address this phenomenon, BrakeTech utilizes the highest quality, highest tensile strength US made aluminum for all their carriers including those used in top pro-level racing. But even so, this will not eliminate the excessive load issues from heavy GVW Harleys where riders use the rear brake for their primary stopping power.
- If you are a rear brake rider and bias your braking in that fashion, BrakeTech strongly recommends fixed mount, monolithic brake rotors exclusively. The Ferodo FMD0433R 5-pt OE Upgrade series is the perfect model for this type of usage.
